The use of terracotta tile and several skylights give this space the feel of a garden room and create a year round connection with the outdoors. With it’s stereo and plasma television mounted on the wall, it also serves as a media area. The “his and hers” comfortable seating make it a great spot for reading the Sunday paper or watching a ball game.

The great room addition showcases the new kitchen with its separate eating area. This kitchen’s personality comes from the use of the Mexican color palette and the use of whimsical touches such as the cabinet hardware. The uncluttered line of the granite countertops is continued by the use of an inset glass cook top unit that has touch-activated controls. The kitchen has seating along the peninsula making it a friendly place to gather. The space under the peninsula has a “doggy door” allowing our canine friends to come and go without disturbing their owners.

From the kitchen, you are a step away from an elegant butlers pantry. There is plenty of storage room for those special serving pieces and a run of counter space for organizing platters.  The glass front wine cooler allows for easy access from the dining room. However, this pantry is much to lovely to use just for staging and is an inviting spot for guests to refresh their cocktails before the meal is served.

From the moment you enter the kitchen area, your eye is drawn to the striking hood that crowns the dramatic Mexican tile backsplash.  The spray of flowers captured in the tile serves as a connection with the garden beyond and gives life to the kitchen with its bouquet of colors. Ole!

The desk tucked in the butlers’ pantry is a handy spot for checking emails or looking up a recipe on line. The turned leg give the desk a furniture like feel and provides a great locale for putting together the guest list for the next dinner party.

French doors line the back wall of the house and bring you out onto a bluestone deck that is melded into the terraced landscape. The contoured deck provides a wonderful spot to serve summer guests a drink before dinner or enjoy a private moment soaking up the glorious garden scenery.

This dining room has been expanded to incorporate part of the old kitchen, creating an elegant area for entertaining. The adjacent butlers pantry, made from the remainder of the old kitchen allows for dinner guests to be served with ease. Columns frame the steps down into the kitchen adding a graceful transition from the dining room and drawing you into the backyard beyond.
